LEVEL KEY:

Carrington and Crafton uses a placement system that combines factors such as age, experience, technique level and discipline level to place students in their proper classes. We find that this allows students to work in an environment that equates with their specific needs and goals. We believe in meeting students where they are, and working with them to continuously grow and flourish in their chosen genres of dance.

Tots

Ages 2–3 (with caregiver independence as appropriate)
Our youngest dancers begin exploring movement through music, imagination, coordination, balance, and classroom structure.

Kinder

Ages 4–6 (Pre-K & Kindergarten)
An introduction to dance technique while building confidence, musicality, flexibility, and foundational skills in a fun, encouraging environment.

Level I

Beginner Elementary
Designed for dancers developing their technical foundation. Students focus on proper terminology, body alignment, rhythm, flexibility, and coordination while building confidence in multiple dance styles.

Level II

Advanced Beginner
Students continue strengthening technique while introducing more complex combinations, increased flexibility, balance, turns, jumps, and performance quality.

Level III

Advanced Beginner working towards Intermediate
For dancers with a solid technical foundation who are ready for greater precision, artistry, strength, and more challenging choreography across disciplines.

Level IV

Intermediate/Advanced
Designed for committed dancers demonstrating strong technical proficiency, performance quality, and increasing independence. Greater emphasis is placed on artistry, versatility, conditioning, and advanced technical skills.

Level V

Advanced
Our highest recreational/conservatory level. Placement is by instructor recommendation. Classes emphasize advanced technique, performance excellence, artistry, strength, pointe readiness (where applicable), and pre-professional training.

Pointe

Pointe classes require instructor approval and are based on technical readiness, strength, ballet training, and physical development—not age.

Conservatory

By placement only. The Conservatory Program is designed for highly committed dancers seeking additional performance opportunities, technical training, choreography, and artistic development.

Company Classes

Company classes are reserved for CAPA Company members and are intended to refine technique, rehearse repertoire, and prepare dancers for performances and competitions.
